Jane the Virgin S2E5 “Chapter Twenty-Seven”

There was a bit of trepidation on my part when it came to this episode.  Two questions loomed over it: 1. Are they really just going to resolve the triangle here or were they going to force some further obstacle?  And 2. Is Britney going to pull this off?  The writers, of course, did not let me down and handled the Jane-Rafael-Michael conflict in a fairly realistic manner.  And Britney, well, Britney did her thing.  Continue reading

Brooklyn Nine-Nine S3E6 “Into the Woods”

This was another one of those “three different storylines that never converge” episodes.  And those aren’t always my favorite since you don’t get to see the cast really interact with each other.  But this show always delivers the laughs.  Continue reading

Jane The Virgin S2E4 “Chapter Twenty-Six”

This was a big week for #TeamMichael! Huge! Jane and Michael’s relationship has demonstrated moments of that casual intimacy you have with someone who’s known you for years. But they haven’t had that sweeping romantic moment like Jane had with Rafael during their first kiss last season. Last night’s kiss had that romance, along with their trademark snow. I’m not #TeamMichael but even I couldn’t help but fall in love with that moment. Continue reading

Jane the Virgin S2E3 “Chapter Twenty-Five”

Family and tradition are a key part of Jane the Virgin.  The strength of the Villanueva women’s relationships with each other has been at the heart of the show from day one.  But this week, we got to see a connection between them we hadn’t seen before. Continue reading

Brooklyn Nine-Nine S3E5 “Halloween, Part III”

I missed out on posting last week because I was out of town.  But I’m very happy to come back to this episode because it was fantastic.

And like I’ve been saying, all this show needed was to get Holt and Gina back at the Nine-Nine.

The Halloween episodes are some of my favorites because you get to see a more playful side of Holt.  And since the current series was a tie, this tie-breaker competition was the perfect follow-up.  And this time the entire squad gets to be part of it. Well, everyone, except Amy.

  • The distrust regarding Amy was a perfect setup, along with the awkward yelling at her cleavage.  I should’ve seen it coming that she would win the whole thing.
  • Let’s talk about Rosa’s Mission Impossible skills.  Can we just follow her around for a few episodes so we can finally find out what she’s all about it?  Clearly, she’s a woman with skills.
  • Oh, Charles.  Of course, you take vents seriously. But roaches in your pants? How big of a sucker can you be?
  • But I love the twist in Gina’s blind date being Genevieve’s twin brother.  How impossibly uncomfortable meaning more fun for us!
  • I need Terry’s weight-loss plan because he’s looking like his old self from last week!
  • But how cute are his twins? Which making you look stronger is not a reason to have kids, Jake.
  • And way to photobomb, Holt! I love the somersault in and cheesy grin.
  • And I’m still loving that Jake and Amy’s relationship is not a central point to the show. I especially loved the exchange about why people throw food away. “How are we together?”

Scream Queens S1 E6 “Seven Minutes in Hell”

I am pleased to announce that not once did I roll my eyes during this episode.  I can’t say if that’s directly correlated to the fact Pete wasn’t in this episode (minus one text), or that the Dean or Grace’s dad was relegated to a two minute appearance at the end of the episode.  But I can say, it didn’t hurt.  One thing I did miss though was the opening credits. Why introduce them if we’re not going to see them on a regular basis?  (Though that’s a perfect question for plot points and characters in any Ryan Murphy production.) Continue reading

Jane The Virgin S2 E2 “Chapter Twenty-Four”

I have never watched an episode of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette.  And I never will.  Unless, Bachelorette Jane is on it.  It was clear Gina Rodriguez had a lot of fun with this alter ego.  The running commentary she provided, the emotional drama of having to choose between two finalists, her rehearsal of her talking head…every single detail was perfectly cliché dating show material.  And the guys even got into it!  Can we get a spin-off? Continue reading

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend S1 E2 “Josh’s Girlfriend is Really Cool!”

You’re always afraid the episode after a fun and entertaining pilot is going to be a downer. Turns out, this episode is really cool! Along with a new theme song! What’s with shows I’m watching just adding opening credits later?

Scream Queens S1 E4 “Pumpkin Patch”

Here’s the good news. After a fun episode last week, I fully expected this to go down the quality roller coaster that is every Ryan Murphy series. That did not happen. Well, it just didn’t go down a large drop, it kind of just did a small drop and evened out.
